EMDR Trained: Open to all, but primarily focusing on the First Responder and Military Communities, PathFinders Coaching and Counseling fosters a place of safety, confidentiality, and peace for people who are tired and need a safe place to unpack their career. Military and First Responder careers are so intoxicating and exhilarating, that we may forget to take care of ourselves. Repetitively witnessing trauma and loss, these careers can leave deep scars that are not seen.
“When I reluctantly reached out for help, I realized I had not felt joy for a long time. Just admitting this was painful. People sat with me at my lowest point, no judgment, and I want to sit with people suffering and give them insight into their emotions, to gain perspective and help them find a path out of the darkness.” -Christopher Malvik LPC-Associate. Owner: PathFinders Coaching and Counseling PLLC
PathFinders Owner and CEO, Christopher Malvik LPC-Associate, has spent over 30 years actively working in the First Responder and Military Communities. Starting at 16 years old as a volunteer in the Washington DC area, Christopher received his Emergency Medical Technician Certification and Firefighter training during the Summer before his Senior year of Highschool. Chris lived his dream through his 20’s, 30’s and early 40’s, riding as a Paramedic on the ambulance, working as a Paramedic in Emergency Rooms as well as a Navy Corpsman with Marine Corps Infantry from 1991-2004, (Reserve). Chris navigated his career well regarding stress, but in his mid 40’s he realized he needed help and reluctantly started counseling. Having gained insight and perspective, and realizing this is a young person’s profession, Chris, went back to school at 51 years old earning his Clinical Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and he is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and a Licensed Paramedic in Texas.
